Why is it important to build credit as a military member?

Establishing credit can seem overwhelming regardless of your age, especially as you embark on a new journey in the military. As you gear up for basic training and strive to manage your finances effectively, making prudent decisions about credit becomes vital for your future financial stability. Remember, when it comes to credit, the first impression you make is crucial, as there are no second chances.

How to get started building credit with a Secured Credit Card:

  1. Apply for a secured Credit Builder Credit Card, a product designed to help establish or rebuild credit.
  2. Deposit an amount from $300 up to $3,000 into a Credit Builder Savings Account which will set the credit limit you request. For example, if you are applying for a $300 Secured Credit Card, you will also need to deposit $300 into a Credit Builder Savings Account.
  3. Make monthly payments equal to at least the minimum payment amount shown on your monthly statement. By making on-time payments and keeping your balances low, you are doing what you can to improve your credit.
