Learn more about how our
Mobile banking and
Online Banking features can fit into your life and put you in control of your finances -- whether you’re home, abroad, or somewhere in between. Because Armed Forces Bank understands the unique needs of service members and their families, and we’re working for you.
Deposit Money Wherever You Are
Military families are used to being flexible, and in a year of COVID-19, social distancing and isolation, we’ve learned to make even more adjustments. Whether you’re home or adapting to your new home due to a recent PCS move, our lives this year may look much different from what used to be considered “normal.”
But some things never change: like grandma giving all the grandkids a check for Christmas or their birthdays. Even though you may not see her in person very often, your check arrives in the mail a few weeks later. When you don’t feel comfortable visiting the bank or ATM in person -- or you’re stationed far away from the nearest branch of Armed Forces Bank-- how can you deposit your money?
The answer: mobile deposit.
Mobile Deposit with Armed Forces Bank
Mobile deposit is a fast, easy way to get money into your account. No matter where in the world you are. With our Mobile Banking mobile app, it’s as easy as taking a picture of your check -- front and back -- with your iPhone or Android smartphone or tablet. As long as your phone or tablet has a camera, mobile deposit will work for you. Get started by downloading the Armed Forces Bank mobile app.
Here’s what you need to do.
- Log in to Mobile Banking.
- Click on Deposit a Check within the mobile app.
- On the Deposit Check page, select the account, and enter the check amount. Follow the instructions on the screen.
- On the Image Capture page, use your device to take a picture of the front and back of the endorsed check. Guides on the screen help you align the check for the image. (Tip: If the image of the check is blurry, you can tap Retake Front or Retake Back to take a new picture.)
- Select Submit Deposit.
- Tap Close. The check appears in the submitted list in the Deposit Check History list.
Although you are simply snapping a picture of your check, you still need to make sure you endorse it. Normally, when you deposit a check in person, you just have to sign your name. But with mobile deposit, you’ll have to provide a little extra information:
- "For Armed Forces Bank Mobile Deposit"
- Account Number
- Name
What to Know About Mobile Deposit
One of the best things about Armed Forces Bank’s mobile deposit feature? It’s 100% free! With Armed Forces Bank, you can deposit checks for free. Any time, anywhere. All you have to do is open the Mobile Banking app on your phone or tablet. Be aware that message and data rates charged by your mobile phone carrier may apply, especially if you’re serving overseas.
What else should you know about mobile deposit? First of all, there may be limits on the amount of money that can be deposited via mobile check.
Also, don’t be surprised if it takes a bit of time for the funds to become available in your account. As a general rule of thumb, you can expect that timeline to be consistent with the funds availability schedule you received upon account opening (or that we otherwise have made available to you).
However, at Armed Forces Bank’s discretion, we may delay funds availability* from any mobile check deposit. If we delay funds availability from your deposit, we will notify you by email at the email address you use for Online Banking.
Our mobile check deposit accepts the following types of checks:
- Personal and business checks
- Cashier's checks
- Government/Treasury checks
Keep in mind that checks must come from a U.S. bank and be in U.S. dollars.
How Secure is Mobile Deposit?
You already know the importance of paying attention to the security of your financial data. It’s a great way to protect yourself from financial scams, phishing and fraud. Fortunately, you can be confident there is nothing to be concerned about when it comes to the security of mobile deposit.
Mobile check deposit offers the same level of security you have with Online Banking on your desktop. For added protection, the images of your checks are never stored on your mobile phone.
There’s one more way you can ensure the security and success of your mobile deposit: Hold on to the physical copy of your check for at least a few days after mobile deposit. Not only can it be helpful for your own personal records, but it can also help provide clarification if the bank has any issues or questions about your mobile deposit.
