From Veterans Day to Every Day

On November 11th, we celebrate one of the most significant holidays dedicated to honoring our military: Veterans Day. At Armed Forces Bank, our commitment to the military community is the cornerstone of our operations.  We're thrilled to share our most recent initiative supporting veterans and our strong connections within the military community, which serve as the guiding force behind everything we do.

Days of Giving Initiative

As a company, one of our pillars of success is Commitment to Service. This promise extends to serving not only our team members and clients, but also our communities. As part of this commitment, from October 16th to 27th, Armed Forces Bank actively participated in "Days of Giving," aiming to create a positive and lasting impact on the lives of veterans.

This year, we partnered with the Veterans Community Project (VCP), which is one of the fastest-growing veterans' nonprofit organizations in America. The VCP's mission is simple: veterans helping veterans, supported by the strength of our community. They provide walk-in support services and transitional housing for anyone who took an oath to serve America, regardless of their discharge status or type of service. They are best known for their communities of tiny houses, which have transformed countless lives and given veterans a place to call home. Today, there are roughly 67,000 homeless veterans living in the United States and over 1 million living in poverty. The Veterans Community Project has already helped thousands of veterans out of homelessness and provided them with essential services, which we hope to continue with our support.

Many veterans arrive at VCP Village with very few possessions, often carrying the pain, uncertainty, and loneliness of homelessness. A tiny house equips them with essential items for a dignified and safe life, including furniture, appliances, housewares, and bedding—free of charge. When they are ready to move on to their permanent homes, they can take these belongings with them.

For Days of Giving, Armed Forces Bank and Academy Bank collected donations from clients, team members, and the community to furnish these tiny homes and give our heroes everything they need to start their new lives. We are happy to share the outcome:

  • The collection of hundreds of household items, home furnishings, food, and hygiene items for the veterans and their tiny houses.
  • $8,618 raised in monetary donations to equip the tiny homes.
  • Continued volunteer work at the VCP, with a commitment for more volunteer efforts in the future.

We are keeping our monetary donation site active until Veterans Day. Join us in combatting homelessness and making a significant difference in the lives of our veterans.

This is Who We Are

Our organization has a deep connection with veterans and the military community. We not only serve this community but truly understand and consider ourselves part of it. In fact, 85% of our Armed Forces Bank Retail Associates have military affiliations. This background provides us with a thorough understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by the military community, allowing us to better serve our clients.

Since 2013, our mortgage team has helped 12,454 veterans and active-duty military achieve homeownership, lending more than $4.7 billion in VA Loans. As a testament to our commitment to veterans, we waive all lender fees for them, ensuring they receive the best combination of service and price.

Over the years, Armed Forces Bank has supported over 50 organizations dedicated to serving veterans—including the Captain James Lovell VA Hospital, local chapters of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), and Veterans Capital USA, among others. We've also sponsored events such as the Veteran Owned Business Summit in Kansas and the Veterans Small Business Conference in Colorado.

As we move forward, we remain committed to our mission of supporting veterans and the military community, ensuring that their needs are met, and their dreams are realized. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of this remarkable journey.
