Enhanced Online Security is an additional layer of security for Online Banking. It helps protect you from fraud or identity theft and keeps your personal information secure.

The system ensures unauthorized users cannot access your accounts by using multiple layers of security to verify three important criteria: your login credentials, device, and location. An additional layer of security we’ve added in the browser address bar will show you if you’re connected to a safe server. Check your browser's address bar before entering your password or answering the security challenge. Your connection is safe if your browser's address bar is green. If the address bar is not green, you should stop your login process immediately and contact us.

When you sign up for Online Banking, you will be prompted to enroll in the Enhanced Online Security system by doing the following:

  • Update or enter your email address.
  • Select three challenge questions and provide answers for them.
  • Select whether the computer you are logging in with is a personal or public computer.
  • Click “Submit.”

It’s that simple!

You will have two options for the challenge methods: challenge question & answer or email. Text message is not an available option.

If you enter your mobile number in the email address field for Online Banking signup, all future emails we send you—including notifications about e.Statement availability, new products or services, and important communications—will be redirected to your mobile number.

If someone steals your password and starts to log into your account from another computer, the unauthorized person will be challenged with the challenge method you chose at enrollment. They will not be able to log into your account without this additional personal information.

You can tell by checking your browser's address bar, where we’ve added an additional layer of security that shows if you’re connected to a safe server. Before entering your password or answering the security challenge, check to see if your browser’s address bar is green. Your connection is safe if it’s green. If the address bar is not green, you should stop your login process immediately and contact us.

Yes, you can use any number of computers to access Online Banking. If you log in from a computer that you haven't used for Online Banking before, you will be asked to verify your identity by completing the challenge method you chose during enrollment. If you chose the email method, you’ll be prompted to enter a one-time passcode sent to your email address. If you chose the challenge question and answer method, you’ll be prompted to answer the challenge questions you chose.

Yes, any number of people can log into Online Banking from the same computer. Please remember to never share your password, access ID, or challenge question and answers with anyone.

Our Enhanced Online Security system evaluates many factors—including your login credentials, device, and location—to determine if a security question should be asked. In addition, some browser settings, like automatically deleting cookies and restrictive privacy filters, aren’t compatible with the “remember this computer” setting.
